Book Review – Beacon 23: Part One: Little Noises [Beacon 23]

4.5 stars. How on earth is this my first time reading Hugh Howey? Beacon 23: Part One: Little Noises is a short book that packs so much meaning, action, and depth into a very quick read. A veteran of a brutal war between humans and aliens has found peace manning a distant gravity beacon in deep space by himself. The veteran’s smart-ass narrative is in itself a pleasure to read. Ultimately, for all the action that takes place in this short read, it sets the stage for a character-driven psychological drama. Ain’t nobody gonna be stopping after this first one!
